'71 RT 340 Challenger UK Market Value...

Morning guys and girls

As some of you may have noticed or be aware... the Nova has a new owner.
I sold her last week. The plan was to leave it a little while before I get on the hunt for something else but I'm sure you can all relate to my lack of patience!

I'm gonna be bringing what ever I chose over from the states - My preference being a '69 SS 396 Chevelle in Hugger Orange - but the reason for my post is...

My contact in Arizona knows of a bone stock, 100% original # matching '71 Plum Crazy RT 340 Challenger. It was repainted in the original Plum Crazy about 10 years back but aside from this it is 100% as it left the facory. I'm awaiting further details (codes, documents, history, pictures etc...) it's looking like the owner wants between $30,000 - $35,000 for it (roughly £17,500 - £20500) ... My question is what kind of money d you guys think this could fetch over here if I were to sell it on permitting I didn't fall for it when it rolled of the boat.

Buy the time you have paid for shipping/taxes/other expenses, you might just break even.

Hm that's a shame. I was hoping it'd be up and around the £25 mark at least

Yes it would be if it is very nice and needs nothing or very little. But it could cost you nearly that much to get it here? Unless you can knock him down on price.

Also bear in mind that small block cars do not fetch the same sort of prices as big block cars and may also take a while to sell.

You might have to let it go for closer to £20K

It actually sounds like a car I would fancy myself. But can't afford.

You'll probably want to keep it when you find out how good that 340 is in an E body compared to a big block.

I can vouch for that....had 2 x '71 Cuda's with 340's, an auto and a stick car.....superb :thumbright:

Just to add...'71 340 was the last true performance 340 made at an advertised 275hp, closer to 300, with 10.5:1 CR....went downhill in 1972 to 8.5:1, so it could be worth a bit more than has been mentioned.

It's been initially described to me and in fantastic condition and that it wants for nothing. I'll have some better pictures by Sunday so 'll post them up as soon as I have them. Here's the few small pictures I've had sent through so far, taken from a local show in AZ. I noticed it hasn't got dummy vents in front of the rear wheels... where these optional or compulsory on a '71 RT?

After seeing some pictures it is starting to grow on me. My preference being a Bowtie with a big block... this is the complete opposite!

What kind of Torque did the 340 make in '71?
