Mah book sez Multi purpose gear oil MIL-L-2105B also says you can use Sure Grip lube. Oil should just cover the worm gear.

Multi purpose gear oil SAE 90 as defined by MIL-L-2105B. That includes Chrysler Hypoid (PN#2933565) and Sure-Grip Lube (PN#2585318).

I read in one of the Stateside Mopar mags a while ago the factory used a combination of gear oil and grease, they heated it all up and while still liquid poured the mixture into the steering box, when it cools it thens solidifies to a certain extent. The trick obviously is getting the boiling oil into the small hole in the box before it hardens, not an easy task, I know I tried it !

The manual mentions packing the ends of the worm with steering box lube as it is rebuilt and then topping up with oil. Can't find a ref to the lube though ie what type of grease?
