What is all this about?

o/s wheel has always been at a slight angle (camber) bottom sticking out... Looked a bit worse yesterday, and tyre is wearing on inside.

Jacked up front and dropped it down, and it was nice and straight.

Move steering around and it starts to hang out again!

Any ideas chaps?

Sounds like a ball joint has gone. Lower one maybe?

You have checked the wheel bearing too I take it?

Jack the front of the car up, grab the top and bottom of the wheel and see if you can make the camber move. If it moves look to see what is moving.
Wheel bearing, upper and lower ball joints. Any other joints you can see.

Nothing should move at all.

can't move the wheel at all when I pull it Dave... Nor could the MOT tester!

I wonder if there is something funny going on with the lower control arm pivot bushing or the k-frame where it attaches?

It is definitely only a change in camber you are seeing is it and not a change in toe?

Well something has to be moving and the only things controling camber are the upper and lower ball joints, the LCA bushing and pivot, and the UCA bushings with their camber/caster adjusting bolts in the inner fender.

It has to be one of those moving.

Or maybe a crack in the LCA?

You need to jack the car under the joint, - so the suspension is still loaded.

Makes sense... I will have a look as soon as I can.

hey jeff it will be the bush inner end on the lower control arm, what you describe is definatly symptoms of this fault, its not going to fail on you ie make you crash or anything daft , it means the wheel can move slightly in or out at the bottom as you drive it, it useually makes it feel at little strange after turning a corner and straightening up, but dont worry you can still race that shooter at the weekend
