Im not sure if there's been a thread on this yet but I could not find one, so I thought Id start one. Not to cause trouble,

just to see what everyone's views are. Quite interested in other Scottish members views as well.

The Romans built a wall to keep you out.
I'd build a bigger one !
Seriously though, I'm not convinced being separate countries benefits anybody, I don't think the maths add up and there's too much talk about oil revenues. Once that's gone what next, difficult to compete with London as a financial centre, albeit you do have some trade like that.
But, if Scotland became a tax haven, like Isle of Mann, then you could get some wealthy types coming.
Also, why should the UK pay towards the cost of making Scotland independent, already many studies have debunked the low figures quoted.
However, money aside, I can see why some want it, it's a sense of identity.
I'm Cornish, we're next !

It's a lot of fuss over less than 10% of the population of the UK and Salmond is on a total ego trip.....and I am part Scots.....

The 'Better together' campaign hardly mentions figures though. I presume thats because they know they dont have a leg to stand on. They continually roll out celebrities that wish we stay together as we are such good mates.
Putting the Oil aside Scotland has a vast wealth in Sustainable energy and also fishing grounds.
Another interesting point I read today was Whisky makes up 1/4 of the whole of the UK's Food and drink exports. Thats 1 Billion GBP that goes directly to the English coffers and not mentioned anywhere as a potential income for Scotland.
What I like to ask people is if England was owned by another nation and they were offered independance, for better or worse would they not want that independance?
Another thought is that not one nation that has gained independance has crawled back and asked to be reunited with the oppressing nation.
I for one would like to remain on very close terms with England but as equals and not seen as the supposed drain Westminster would have us betrayed.

10% of the population that will control much more that a 10% GDP, this is not in dispute with the No Campaign. They know they dot have a leg to stand on here. Maybe more to the point will be the worldwide loss of face England will have to endure. I think the whole of the United Kingdom would disintegrate if (and I doubt we will) get independance.

Also, a vote for independence is not a vote for Salmond. Thats like saying a No vote is a vote for Cameron and who in the right mind would vote that twaat back in?

I disagree with that.
London alone produces much more GDP than all of Scotland...
At least we will get rid of all the Scots MPs - anything that reduces the number of thieving Bananarama! is a good thing..........

But what about the 22bn we plough into Scotland every year to run the country.
That's a lot of whiskey to sell !
You can't have the pound, that's ours. You can have zloties, or Scotties as it should be called. Just not the euro !
Plus They would tax the Bananarama! out of everything coming into England
Can we please keep Irn Bru though
There's only one way to sort this out.....FIGHT
Great topic to talk about btw
that's English for By The Way........

If you had to be a member of the EU would you not rather do so as an equal nation or as a slave nation to another EU member?
Who knows, if we did actually get independance we get a referendum like England has done.

Have a look at the figures here. The fact that the No campaign does not argue the toss over them tells you they must be accurate. The best the No campaign can come up with is stary ad we will give you hugs and kisses.
You're more than welcome to the Iron Bru though, that stuff is seriously nasty!
But seriously, if England was ruled by another country and was offered a chance to be free of that country would you not vote for it?

We are ruled by another country, several in fact. It's called the EU and it's finishing off Britain rapidly.

Most countries are ruled by the rich and privileged, full stop.
I am sure the Scots will vote for independence, probably out of boredom, dissatisfaction with current politics and the hope that the new system will offer some thing better than the current one...I am sure little will change in reality...
