Anyone have actual experience of a good clutch?
I'm thinking a clutch/ flywheel package, but my choices are a bit limited as I have an 18-spline trans mated to a 360 motor.
I may need a special flywheel (my current one I had to get machined to balance it to the motor)

I'll be slamming a B-body up the strip with around 450hp, so I want it to take that and a whole lot more without complaining!

I'll be ordering a clutch and fitting it over Winter or maybe early Spring. This is the one I'll get.

Had the same clutch in the car for about eight years and it's taken a lot of abuse and hundreds of runs down the strip. It's still not slipping but there's no free play left in it so it's on it's last legs.

Mick- is that on a stock flywheel?
That's along the right lines. I'd considered a twin plate but dunno if it would be overkill.

My flywheel is a stock cast iron143 tooth 11". The clutch is massive and scalloped so the bolts will fit. Not sure if it would fit your flywheel but Brewers are very responsive so I'd drop them an email and tell them what your after.

It's a minefield, still not finished reading up about it myself. The UMTR (United manual transmission racers) message board is a wealth of clutch info.

I used a McCleod Super Street Pro clutch last change. Admittedly just before the Nats (2days) so it didn't get a proper bed-in but it works bootiful and took loads of track abuse since.
I'm still using the factory flywheel now but I'm gonna get a billet one for the stroker motor. I may use a twin plate assembly instead cos if you price up a decent flywheel and strong cover and plate you pay about the same.
I would still always use a diaphragm cover over a Borg & Beck style cover, more clamping force and lighter pedal pressure.
The dual friction surface plates are very good, organic material on the cover side and ceramic/sintered bronze/whatever on the fly side. Don't know how aggressive the wear will be against the flywheel yet, but I suspect it won't be much worse than a regular disc, the 'pucks' on the DF plates give a much greater clamping effort and the separation allows them to run much cooler.
