727 pan gasket

Just a quick question.

Do 727 pan gaskets come in both rubber and cork ?

If so, which do you prefer and why ?

Plus, do you put a bit of goo on the pan side, the trans side, or both when you put it on ?

Got a bit of leak from the gasket (strangely just happened overnight after a drive) and I have nipped the bolts up a bit but it is still weeping so I guess it has to be swapped.

Also, what sort of torque do the bolts need and how much trans fulid does the 727 hold ?

Hi Sandy ive used both cork and rubber gaskets on mine, ive found the rubber 1 best i put sealer on both sides and let it go off a bit then fit the sump also check the bolt holes are flat as they can lift up and stop it tightening.the book says 18.5 pints of fluid from empty my auto man told me to run through the gears and check it in drive engine running so you need a hand with that bit,tightening torque is 150inch-pounds NOT FOOT-POUNDS

It's fine to check the trans in neutral, motor running, just not park, fill to the bottom of the stick, take itfor a run to warm the box up and then when it is hot adjust the level to the full mark.

I tend to use Felpro cork, again with a thin bead of sealer, while the pan is off, change out the filter ! and as has been said, check the rail is flat..
