Don't forget that this isn't "the car", it's the camera car used for all the interior shots. It is the only car from the film still in it's original form though.

......... and it's the same car used in Anerican Graffiti driven by the cock who was in Star Wars (an inferior science-fi confection, not to be confused wiv the excellent Snatch Wars)

Yep same car used in graffiti there was a very good tribute car doing the rounds that used to frequent the Chelsea cruise. It was up for sale at one point not seen it since.

This isn't the car that was in American Graffitti, that one is still around but has been considerably messed with over the years and now bears little resemblance to how it was in either film. If that car was put back to it's TLB or AG guise it's the one that should fetch the big money, it's the one I consider to be "the car" from both films.

Ah gotcha so this was one of the driving cars not the close up car.
Was it basically just the same car repainted for AG or was there much in the way of mods?

Warren Oates GTO driver was brilliantly portrayed.
It still amazed me that someone as boring as James Taylor could be in such a cool film.
No doubting Dennis Wilsons coolness, cept for havin Manson as a friend, not smart

Yes the car you "see" is the Graffitti car, It was basically the same car.In AG Tunnel ram replaced with a single carb, smaller scoop, steel doors, different wheels, bench seat and a tarp over the rear seat area and a quick slosh of black paint was about it. So it was way faster than that Bananarama! yeller deuce coupe....
There were actually 2 main cars used for filming, they had a back up in case the other broke down. Nobody seems to know what happened to the other one, it was sold off after filming along with the camera car and the stunt car which was supposed to be used for a crash at the end of the film but they changed the script. The remaining car was left in storage at the studio which is why they used it for AG. It was finally sold along with all the other cars from Graffitti before the film was released, so no doubt they all went for a song....

There was a magazine article about all the Graffiti cars back in the '70's. It claimed the '55 in TLB trim had run 10.90, it has an L88 motor so that sounds quite possible, that particular car was exactly what it appered to be, it wasn't just your usual movie prop.
