Anyone fitted electric windows to a 2dr pillarless car?

I was amazed about those E body regulators which fetched $3000 on eBay without the motors or wiring...

If I wanted to fit aftermarket EW to my Ambassador (and/or the Fury) what can I do? An piece in Mopar Action commented on how only front regulators were available in repro for E bodies which got me wondering why you need special regulators, could one not just use one of these generic aftermarket kits? However as the rears in a 2HT or 'vert don't go straight up & down but on an arc will one of these univeral kits work anyway?

I'm after electrics for the Ambo as the roof is electric and it'd be way cool to just push a button and have the whole lot slide away.

My chances of getting all the proper gear form a breaker are about zero (unless anyones' parting out a 67 AMC out there...) so its going to need to be an adapted sollution

Anyone got any ideas?

(Steve did I get it right you used OEM stuff in your Mustang or was that an aftermarket kit?)

chuck in some regs out of an old Skyline or something. They're pillarless. Retain your runners etc, and just change the motor and quadrant assembly. Assuming there is space in the door.

I needed some for my triumph, which were never available with said option. I bought some aftermarket "universal" kits from the MG owners club. There not bad (italian though!) and are easy to make fit and use your existing regulators.

They have a drive which slips over the shaft which you put the handle on, but is connected via a cable so the motor is mounted elswhere.

Don't come with switches though, but Vehicle Wiring Products do some very seventies window switches (now also fitted to triumph.

Just leaves the hole in your door card to sort out!

cheers guys. for the holes in the door cards and quarter trims I had thought of getting some of those wheel centre caps, the flat type like you get on Rostyles and sticking them over the hole in some manner. IIRC I saw some a while ago with a cross-flag logo on them which would look quite neat.

My brother has some 84 camaro doors with the electric windows stiil in them, let me know if they are any use and if you want them taking to the nats
