been offered a big block 727 box, bought from Duncan a few years back (so can assume its good)but been standing so probably needs a quick freshen up. the guy that has it is a mate and he asked me what I want to pay for it, don't want to rip him off so what do people think is a sensible price (I don't know what he paid for it)

I just got £550 for a Dunc-freshened sb one via RnS.
Two guys asked me if it was for a bb so there's definitely a market there for you!

I placed a rebuilt 727 on here for £350 only got one reply and they bought it not much interest as most people don't want to buy another box when they can have their one rebuilt

I offered mine on here and on ebay for weeks without a sniff. I was after £650 but couldn't get it.

This is interesting to me as I've got my 67 Coronet with a 383 and 727 in place, ive also got my 470ci 400 block which I'm thinking of getting fitted to the car, do I get the existing box rebuilt to take the additional power of the 470 or wait until a built unit comes up for sale on the market ?

There is "reconditioned", and "Built" - i.e. the former is overhauled and pretty much standard, and then there is the work you need to do to take serious power and they are most definitely NOT the same - Duncan, Blue and Dave B will testify to this...
Once you end up with Steel Drum, extra clutch plates, steel planetaries, Billet Servos's, quality Sprag (essential), Kevlar bands, quality Valve body, you can spend a LOT on one of these.
I do not know enough about these transmissions, but it is important to speak to a trusted person before you decide on one to take serious power.....

Sorry to jump in but just in case...
If anyone has a top-notch, complete, small block 727 in standard spec ready to go, I will buy it.
Please PM me...
Thank you and sorry again for jumping in.
