Exhaust Cutouts/Solenoids

Does anyone have these on their car?
Am I just being childish??!!?
It's tempting to got some fitted.....
Does anyone have any good or bad experiences with them?
I see that there is the pull cable type and then the solenoid type. I'm sure that some solenoids are better than others....
I know a good exhaust shop locally, so would plan to order solenoids and a Y section and get them to fit.
I would then have it dump just past the header and remove bypass the rear silencers.

Yes. But thats what these cars are for
I have not fitted yet, but will follow this thread with interest. I just swapped my lovely new but-oh-so-quiet dynomax for rough-n-ready flowmasters. Childishly brilliant - sounds MUCH better.

I fitted Summit exhaust cutouts on the RR. Lasted a few months then one fell apart, all the screws came loose and it stopped closing. I fixed it, then the other one did the same so I fixed that. Then something else went and I fixed that and finally the other one stopped working properly and I decided I'd had enough of them and took them off.
The best ones are made by Dougs but they are expensive. I was going to get a set but can't justify the cost.
They are great for a few weeks then the novelty wears off and you stop opening them up. My car is plenty loud enough without them.

I had a car that had them fitted when I bought it and you get a bit of a thrill for the first 5 minutes, but I had ongoing concerns about reliability and lack of ground clearance.
If you intend having a RWYB car, you are better off (if you can) of designing a system that drops off easily, and thereby saving 50 lbs of weight as opposed to adding weight with the cut outs....

I've had the QuickTime cutouts (from Summit) fitted for several years. No problems with them.

My challenger has a max wedge style exhaust with caps and wing nuts, it take no more than a few minutes to uncork them at the track. On the sat at the nostalgias i slapped them back on and we went up to the local carvery for a meal. Mind you it was a little tricky in the rain with the slicks on. Lol

Anton built me a cut out and side pipe
the side pipe is flanged
and points directly at the people on the footpath that i want to impress, lady folk, people on mobility scooters etc
the flange includes a metal shim
i undo 1 wingnut flip the shim and the side pipe is open
sensible when closed
less sensible when open

I hve been known to grin
when closed i just put a sign in the back saying i have a very small penis
when its open i can take down the sign which improves rear visibility no end
you can buy the electric gubbins with bluetooth now
control it from you phone....which is illegal if you are moving

Excellent work, Will; but they are the worst Turbochargers I have ever seen!
You have got those cut outs tucked up nice and high.....

Will...........
Looks like a tricky route for the propshaft though!
It may be the camera angle, but will it get past those flowmasters?........
