70 Challenger

I am looking for a solution to having street legal rear indicators on a 70 Challenger and seeking the experience, advice and knowledge of those who have trod this path.

With respect - the friendly MOT tester option is not an option.

Help, please!

That's a tough call Dave. No reverse lights fitted I presume?
Looking at the stock spec it looks as if you might have to fit some additional lights which would spoil that rear panel area.
But I guess you've come to that conclusion.

The wiring part is straightforward if you need help with that once you've decided what to do.

I have just imported some spare rear light lenses for my Coronet and I intend chopping those up and then changing the wiring loom to suit.

Not an easy option but I took the view that it would give the best results with the most integrated look.....

I spoke with Dave he can not remember what he did, but I do have a pic of his car and it looks stock to me,he did do something to it though, we just cant remember.

Ahhh his memory kicked in here is what he wrote.

"I cut out the centre red reflectors and replaced the plastic with plastic from some reversing lights. Then painted them on the inside with a thin coat of nail varnish or something. then I cut holes in the metalwork behind them and mounted rectangular indicator units from a VW or something and also some tin on the back of the lenses so that light didn't bleed into the stop/tail bits."

but he also said this.

"I wouldn't bother these days. I would mount bright yellow LEDs around three sides of each brake light."

"The bright LEDs you can get now though shine through the red lenses so can be totally hidden."
