Post by morgan »

Nothing mega. Had to pop a plug for clearance and wondered what we think. Been in there 500-1000 miles probably.

Healthy/unhealthy ?

I hate being the first one to reply on posts like this, always leaves me thinking that everyone is waiting for the local idiot to give the wrong answer, :D

However, I'm gonna stick my neck on the line and say, that looks nice and healthy to me, I always tend to go by the colour of the tip / terminal. ( waits for someone to shoot him down in flames  )

Looks fine Morgan, clean, light tan colour, modern fuels are full of detergents so it can mask some things but that generally leaves the insulator a slight pinkish hue.

Porcelain looks too clean. Sod it,drive it a bit more, have another look,so long as it's not pinking.

I love the way that reading plugs can apparently tell you so much about how your engine is running. I say 'apparently' because it's nothing that I've got any experience with...but after reading this article I'll be paying more attention in future....

http://www.4secondsflat.com/Spark_plug_reading.html

Actually, if you believe the bit about the where the color change occurs on the ground strap being an indicator of too much, too little or correct timing then the second image posted by Morgan would suggest there might be too much timing. The article seems to be saying that the color change should be on the apex.

It's a good article, but I think to some degree it doesn't recognise the make up of contemporary fuels
