Speedo Cable....Cruise Control

Im having a good clearout of the engine bay in my New Yorker as Im trying something new to me with this resto. Im after a nice, clean, uncluttered engine bay (eventually).

Ive removed the cruise control unit (not connected up so assume broken) and I noticed that it has two speedo cables. One going into the unit from the dash and another going out to the transmission.

My question is, with it all removed is it as simple as buying a single non cruise control cable to replace the two originals or will I have to do anything else to get my speedo to work??

Should be OK to just go straight from transmission to speedo Steve, I don't think that there is any change of ratio through the cruise control unit. If you can't find a cable Speedy Cables will make one to your requirements.

that's brilliant...thanks for the advice!!

Common sense would say that they would keep production costs to a minimum so two cables and unit for cruise option, standard cable non cruise, all built around the same 727 and speedo unit.

Will check out ebay or rock auto....
