Tips on getting to the O2

We're thinking of going for Muse in April but don't know enough about That London.
Train is too expensive, parking seems impossible. I'm wondering about driving to the outskirts then a tube or taxi in?
Either that or we'll do Glasgow but that has it's own set of problems...

The O2 has a big car park, I've only been once and I drove. Its more like a shopping centre than a music venue, plenty of places to eat and drink if you get there early.

I've never driven there (except on that tunnel run Derek organised a few years ago from Chelsea Bridge

) - always got the tube from where we are on the 'outskirts' as the traffic would just be too much of a pain, except maybe on a weekend. When I did look into parking there, it was the cost that put me off...

If you did want to get the tube, the O2 is at North Greenwich on the Jubilee Line. A short while ago I wouldn't have hesitated in recommended parking in the streets near Stanmore tube station, at the northern end of the Jubilee Line (approx. 1 mile from the M1, J4) but recently they've added more parking restrictions for non-residents, so I'd say your best bet would be to use the NCP at the station and pay the going rate:

And cos Stanmore is on the same line as North Greenwich, you don't need to change trains and are guaranteed to get a seat for the whole journey

(I've used the Northern Line before now and had to change at London Bridge during rush hour and had to wait for 2 or 3 trains to pass for a train with enough room

)
Good luck either way

...and don't forget to allow some spare change to pay the £5.50 they charge for a pint... or maybe even more by then
