I finally got around to looking inside my broken trans, and surprisingly (given that the case and valve body were shattered) all the internal parts look ok.
The shafts turn smoothly and there are no bits of metal rattling around inside.
I'm not likely to be using any of these parts so if anyone wants anything then here it is...
