Small comfort that it was the Big C rather than his other 'indulgences' that took him in the end

Not quite what I meant.
I cant believe you don't know who Lemmy is/was, Dunc, even if you don't like the music, but anyone who does will know of his apparent indestructible nature and would have expected him to go by way of heart or liver failure, or similar.
At least he only suffered for a few days,

Just saw this on the BBC. it made me sad that something that frankly we all assumed should have happened years ago has now come to pass. I'd say he has done good - that lifestyle ( still touring!) and still hit 70. Like Rob I would have assumed an excess of something would have felled him first !!

Oh no
Dunc, Lemmy is the god of heavy metal.
He's lived the ultimate rocker life, he led Motorhead for ever and he was still touring to the end! His substance abuse was legendary, we all thought he was immortal!
You'd have liked him, he was straight talking, no Bananarama!, hard as nails

was due to play here in Swindon in February
sad, but it's surprising he made it that far, saw a documentary about him earlier in the year, raised hell everywhere !

He'd recently changed his drink of choice from JD & coke to vodka & orange as it was better for his diabetes & only got diagnosed with cancer on Boxing day. RIP Lemmy.

Wow, just found out about the Lemmy demise on the radio. I had the pleasure of seeing Hawkwind at the Croydon Fairfield Halls and then Motorhead at Hammersmith Odean about 8 years ago. Lemmy was indeed the ACE of spades, a wonderful truly British Rock n Roller, if ever a supergroup from the heavens would form then Lemmy would get my vote as the bassist. The World is sadder for Lemmy exiting, RIP fellah.
