Following on from Mo's suspension query.......

Do those in the know (Neil?) know what the choices are like for the range of colours available in powder coating?

We've got some steel wheels on the way that we'll be looking at gettin painted or powder coated but will want to match the original red of the Polara, for which I have a PPG/Ditzler number.
I would imagine this would be no prob with paint but can powder coating be matched to a code?

I was thinking of powder so it would be more resilient to the occassional on/off of the dog-dishes, oh & the neanderthal grease-monkeys who will no doubt be fitting the tyres.

yes powder can be matched to vitually any colour, but it will be cost prohibitive for a one off job like yours. There will be a minimum buy required, usually of 25kg powder which will coat hundreds of wheels.
However, it is worth talking to your coater, cos you never know he may be able to get something already matched and close enough for you.

I wonder if it would be possible to use a painting oven to bake on powdercoat ... so you could do a whole car ...

Was that an exact match to the body colour or just 'near enough'.

Ted Evans did it in the States for me (he of "Warpig" fame).

I am sure you could get it done over here; however it has bee no more resilient to scratching than good old 2 pack...

Guess I'll look a bit nearer to home then!
Theres a place about a mile from home that I've used thru work before but that was quite a few years ago and they just did black for us then. Worth enquiring tho.

BMW are already doing it on 5series. Need a special powder though to get the appearance.
