Probably a dumb electrical question

..because I'm simple.
I want to put a break in my starter motor lead (the heavy duty lead from the battery live ) to help with starter motor removal.
Can I use a bus like this
http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/p ... tegory/200
I ask as it is rated at 100amps and the starter motor needs many more amps to crank.
If I can't use that type of connector, what do you guys recommend?

Say's it's rated to 150 amps Miles, I'm sure it will be fine.

Personal choice but I would want the principle 12V supply covered, drop a spanner or short your wedding ring on that and you will be in a world of pain, literally.

i would also select a covered / insulated device
having said that the starter relay isn't
also use a quick disconnect ...

Thanks all, I get can one of those bus's with a cover.
I remember many years ago touching the two starter terminal with a spanner accidentally and having the Mopar spin over whilst I was underneath
I now disconnect the battery for any job I'm doing.

I had the starter feed short to the chassis while driving on my Aussie Charger. That was exciting!

I did the same under an MGB when I was 19. It was in gear too!
It toppled off the axle stands and landed on top a pair of wheels and a trolley jack with the saddle still high in the air that i'd tripped over and kicked underneath in disgust...
I doubt I'd be sat here typing this message but for that little bit of luck!

I branded my wrist with my watch strap
gets mighty hot with all those amps flowing through it
very sore indeed and busted my watch.
skoda....nice battery box but there is a live stud down near the bottom as you reach to change the light bulbs...
Nice one VW
