My Challenger front disc pads have developed an annoying and very audible rattle.
They have a “spring clip” attached to each calliper at the moment, which I presume is an anti-rattle device, but they’re not serving any purpose at all at the moment !! (see photo)
Does anybody know how to eliminate the rattle or how this spring should be fitted please.
(A previous posting on this subject last August doesn’t help in this instance)

Derek stopped his by removing the sliding pins and putting some springs between the pads and the reinstalling the sliding pin.

You have the anti rattle clip the wrong way round, they are supposed to hold the pad against the piston, so the loop clips over the edge of the pad.

It's not clear to me that those clips were original fitment, though they are included with replacement pads. What I am sure about is there were originally 'positioner' clips which are still available. However some people swear they are useless and to throw them away so it's your call.

I would swap the clips you have and see if they work, if not, get some of the positioners

Anton :- Do you mean a "weakfish" coil spring over the pins to spread the pads apart?

challenger :- I've read this post but it didn't seem to help here.

Mr Norm :- Useful diagram. I'll look into seeing if the anti-rattle spring does anything as in the pic. The "positioner" is what I don't have. I'd like to try them, but do you know anyone who can supply them?

Bill Rolik enterprises definitely sells them, as I'm sure do other places. The diagram is from the FSM (factory manual), although I just found it on the web. If you don't have a FSM I strongly recommend getting one, they are a mine of information. In fact you might even be able to download one from MyMopar?
I would def switch around the clips you have on there already first, it should only take a few mins and might fix your problem.

(Yes after decades of working on cars I still persist in thinking there is such a thing a a job which takes a few minutes - I need help...)

Also some types are floating calipers ...
