have you tried rousing Sandy Mercer
http://www.aus-ford-uk.co.uk/
haven't seen him in years but he was guardian of the register.
they do pop up from time to time both UK and in southern Ireland, but the mad max link makes the 4 doors expensive
and the 2 doors are expensive because they are 2 doors

hi dave, yes have spoken to sandy in the past, the register has been dormant for a few years now. Agree all prices have rocketed. although if you look at prices in australia it does look like the bubble has burst.

fastback for me like a wedge mustang,, steve case had one yrs ago as a tow car, way back you really could buy a running with mot fairmont/falcon fastback for £500. i had a posh ltd version, 4 barrel 351 cleveland 4 wheel discs, hidden headlights, 4 leather high back bucket seats, strip lights across the rear that was a cool car, swapped it for a mk1 granada ghia saloon sold it a few months later for about £600 notes, good times,

They certainly were cheap in the late '70's through the '80's, a few hundred would get one. There was no real interest in things Australian and they were just seen as second rate American cars and treated as such, most got abused, they rusted or were just bought for the engine and the rest thrown away. No wonder they are scarce in the UK now, there used to be loads of them. A couple of my mates back then had them, one had been bought new by Monty Modlyn (you'd need to be my age to remember who he was).

I love the wagon that was in the first Mad Max film. In fact, I love everything in that film....the Kawaski Z eds, the old Biscayne thing that got trashed....fantastic!
