how much play should shock absorber bushes have?

I was under the car earlier checking everything over and found that I could twist the upper sections of the rear KYB show. The shox are tight in the frame but there must ne about a good 1/2" of twist either way. This means that there is quite some deflection available.
Doesn't seem right to me. Any thoughts?

Not worried, Mike, just thought that any slop was a wrong 'un. Shox seem to dampen the car fine.

That is the main thing

If they are too slack you'll get quite a knock when going over those speed bumps.

Drive on.

Indeed. No knock.
Drive on.

bolt with sleeve then rubber then shock

my KYB shocks came with no sleeve
so I cleaned up one plastic and one steel sleeve I had seized onto the bolts, sleeves and bolts of differing quality and vintage I guess

shoved em in

yes a bit of twist but those cone shaped washers help a bit (and the shock works perpendicular to the Problem area)

like Belleville washers but not used as such, if you catch me drift
