Should the 727 transmission be very hot to touch after approx 20 miles of driving? I only noticed when I got under the car to sort an oil leak from the dipstick tube after it had been parked for 5 minutes. Could it be heat sink from the engine maybe.. Engine is a rebuilt 440 still running in. Oil cooler goes to the bottom of the radiator. Cheers :help:

Too many variable's, but I'd say yes.

Heat transfer from engine and exhaust that runs either side of the pan.
Lots of reciprocating parts in the box too which will generate as lot of heat. If your still running the integral oil cooler in the rad then add that heat transfer aswell. Stock hood, manifolds and original rad would all add up to the engine/box getting hot quickly.

Yes it will be hot.

For best practice, check that your trans fluid is nice and clean and at the right level. If good, drive on :thumbright:
