As mentioned in my Big daft northern adventure I'm now the owner of a 90-91 Fox Mustang.

Very pleased with the car especially the bodywork which is excellent, no rust to speak of and the paint is really decent for 25 years old.
Future posts will detail some of the jobs done.
So far, fitted a new 130anp alternator and wiring upgrade
Cold air intake
New stereo and amp.

The exhaust is shot and after much deliberation I spanked the wallet for an eye wateringly expensive stainless steel system; figured i'd just do the job once
In a couple of weeks the car is off to have 3.73 gears fitted. This should put the car much more in the powerband and I can also take advantage of the overdrive to keep the rpms down on the highway.

Not sure of these new rear lights, but they were cheap and you can actually see them working better than the 'cheese grater' effect originals. Even so, probably swap them back.

It looks a tidy car.

Yes Pete, nice yank to 'retire' to; a little more comfort and drives (mostly ) like a modern car.

I took a liking to these cars some years back after watching US programmes like 'Pinks' and 'Street Outlaws'. Just liked the fact that they are hugely tunable and relatively cheap and have those sharp late 80s lines.

In part it was due to selling my Buick Grand National which I partly regret. The Fox and the GN were each others nemesis cars in the late 80s and early 90s and it just seemed right to try the other side of the argument.
So far i'm impressed...but more oomph required in due course

It really needed a 130 amp alternator Miles, the original ones are shockingly bad at running even just lights and demister.
Know what you mean about those rear lights, maybe a pair of the non cheese grater type, the cobra version even has UK spec indicators built in.

The Street Outlaw thing certainly changed my view of these,looking forward to seeing it improve Miles.

Basically I want to keep the car as un messed with as possible, but also run in the 13s, so gears first and then see what more is required. Might save for some AFR heads over winter as the stock truck heads limit flow; they build good torque but the hp tops out at just 4,800 rpm which is a lot less than the Mopars I'm used to.

Looks good Miles. Quite a departure from the Roadrunner and sure you will have her just how you want her in no time at all. Bit of a sleeper by the time you are done

Currently seem to be sleeping underneath the car currently whilst I fit a new stainless Magnaflow exhaust system!
Its amazing how opposite forces ca be so stubborn to align when lying less than 18" under a car
