Red Key ( fire switch)

Question ( just checking things out here)
I used to have the red turn off key in the motor located in the rear of the car.
Positive terminal from the battery to one side of red terminals on the back of the switch and the other terminal went through the car direct to the starter motor. ( the neg battery terminal ) was just earthed inside the rear of the car.
So this worked fine and turned everything off on the twist of the red key.
Since then I have changed things around mechanically and electrically and now looking to reinstall the key prob in the front of the car.
But on reading up and checking the correct install for this product it tells me all sorts of various ways to connect up to the motor.
So question is it still OK to wire the red key as before or do I need to do this little job another way.
Thanks in advance for any replies
