water pump housing/bolt leak

Hi All,
I've had to change the P/S pump belt on my 383 (68 charger) and found that after re-tightening the bolt, coolant has been weeping from the water pump housing gasket on that side and via the bolt which is used to adjust the tension for the P/S pump belt.
I'm pretty sure I'll have to take the housing off to replace the gasket(s) but should the 'tensioning bolt' be a stud as I've seen that studs have been used with sealant on the threads to stop leaks from occurring.
