Ford F350 6.0 Powerstroke HELP! (please....)

Hi everybody.
I need some help please.
Can anyone suggest who to contact over an ongoing misfire issue that I've got with my 2003 Ford F350 powerstroke 6.0L.
I've tried several garages and am getting nowhere. David Boatwright Partnership and Hilltop Services have been tried so looking for new suggestions.
Go online and the info is all there on what to do, just need someone who is competent & doesn't give up when its not spelled out in black & white from a manual.
Can't believe there is nobody in the whole of the UK who can't help, even a decent diesel mechanic will do. Will travel anywhere to get it sorted. Its my work truck so its banarama killing me financially & stress wise so any help massively appreciated.
Thanks in advance.....or otherwise someone make me an offer on 3 tons of scrap metal

http://diplockfuel.co.uk/ Most local garages round here use them for those problem problems. :thumbright:

Thanks mate, have called them already but usual story they don't have the diagnostic equipment to work on the truck. They were bloody helpful though and are hopefully calling me back with another guy who might be able to help.
I've been told it could be anything from a crank sensor to the FICM (a common problem on these).
The available info online is huge as these were sold in their millions but its finding the right people over here thats the issue.
Anyway thanks for the number, as i say they were really helpful and sound like a good bunch of people. :thumbright:

Diplocks would have been my suggestion too.

I have used First Diesel in Croydon too,Dave who works there is very knowledgable.

Try Luke at DPUK, he builds performance diesels, I know he had a 6.0 Powerstroke himself recently that he bought with issues and sorted it. I haven't dealt with him personally but he seems to know his stuff

Thanks so far for the updates & contacts, Luke was really helpful and the guys at Diplock got back to me which finally led to a garage with the right gear to plug it in, so fingers crossed.

If anyone else has anymore info it'll be greatly appreciated, its a great truck (when it works) and so I'm desperate to get it earning money for me again.

Wasn't it easier when a diesel engine just needed a sniff of fuel or air and it ran, but that's progress though eh.....??

Keep the suggestions coming & thank you to everyone who's responded so far :thumbright:

03 and 04 Powerstroke 6.0 motors are reknowned for misfires, EGR issues and injector problems, 05 and 06 dont seem so bad as apparently the issues got sorted. Sounds like you might be on the right track now, let us know how you get on

Yep the 6.0l certainly has its gremlins, I've already done the EGR bulletproof kit so was hoping for a few miles of trouble free motoring but oh well. Great truck, tows effortlessly even with 5 ton behind it (Shhhh :-$ ;) )
I'm not outta the woods yet, not by a long way, but can see a glimmer of daylight...........
Thanks again

For diagnostics just get the Forscan app & a good quality bluetooth obd11 module, the OBD Link MX works well with android devices, it also has a logging option, then get over to http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum107/ there will be someone who can interpret your results & guide you. Other option is a Ford main dealer as their IDS is fully compliant with the American stuff, although you might find they're not willing to take it on! My local Ford dealer (T C Harrison in Peterborough) are currently sorting out a 7.3 F350 that has been stood for several years & has multiple problems.

Guys

Many thanks for the info. Shovelhead Rob,,,, great bit of info and will def look into what you suggest, although the local Ford Dealer near to me has a terrible reputation but there are others i could use.

Ok so after a few phone calls the Ford is booked in to a place down in Kent on Tuesday (Redline American Muscle) who have the right kit & seem clued up.

I took a punt on buying an american truck for a daily, all my colleauges have hiluxs, rangers, Izuzus etc so I'm kinda on a crusade to make this work out.

Fingers crossed & thanks guys, yesterday morning i was having a proper strop & getting ready to scrap the bloody thing....will update next week with more news. :thumbright:

I use my 7.3 dually as a daily, I thought about the 6 oh! But although everything is fixable it could get expensive, the 7.3 with a tuner will be good for as long as I'll be driving! Hope you get it sorted.

Had a Ford 7.3 IDI (not powerstroke but turbo'd) and it was the dogs danglies bits but sadly the rest of the truck was falling apart so it had to go...

I'll persevere with the 6.0h!, when it works its great, huge load carrying space & stands head & shoulders over the normal work trucks round here.

BUT.....if it still messes me about then its gotta be a dodge cummins next time which i know if i said that in the states it would have me lynched by the Ford faithful
