MOPAR finance

So, I guess someone on here must know about a finance option on a Mopar ?
As I continually search for a second car, it seems my saving potential cannot match the constant appreciation of things like Chargers and Superbees.
Several members here have 2, 3 and more cars and I'm sure are considerably more well off than I but I just feel that if I don't nail one of these babies down within the next year, I may not be able to.

Finance I can't help you with, but if you had savings earning nothing there's a resonable argument for spending out on a Mopar which will appreciate in value.

Blue ..... let me give you my wife's number and you can plead my case !!!!
Seriously though, when Chargers are hitting £40K things are looking bleak with regard to ever having an EXTRA £40k lying around !

I know the feeling...ha ha. I think high end muscle is almost out of the reach of most of us now to be honest. I love my sub £10K C Body and have no desire to change it for anything else.

With interest rates so low now, is it worth considering a bank loan over 6 years for £20K (as an example) and a bit of savings thrown in to beef it up?? Many people think nothing of these figures for a new car that loses money as quick as you pay it off (double whammy) so why not on an investment that you can use and enjoy? :thumbright:

I can never understand why anyone (who is not extremely well off) would buy a new car, as a daily or as a second vehicle. The money lost % wise is huge.

I don't like the statement 'money in a car is better than a bank' either with the above said. Cars are expensive, if you are going to use it; insurance, housing it, maintenance and the pricey bit - go faster parts all add up.

"Hey babe check out my pension/long term investment... Just spent £30k on a new crate hemi lol" Does not work.

You're probably better buying a 'rough' desirable car then spending bits on it over the years of ownership. Think of it as a longish term keep, consider your situation to housing it (garage parking?), other commitments and costs.

I expect most 2nd cars are financed in some way, most of the new cars you see are not owned out right by their drivers.

Oh and ship one over yourself, it is about 2/3 the price.

Keep thinking that but that'd mean buying it blind as going to the states to find it adds to the cost. Are there folk out there who will make sure it is what it says and then ship it for you ?

My rule is to only spend what I have. Given that yanks are a hobby car I won't go into debt for one.
Of course, you maybe a lot younger in which case it's a different game.
If you do borrow/invest make sure it a sought after car, not a clone etc
No offence to clone owners, but the real deal will hold value. Just look at R/T cars.
As for me, I can't afford a MOpar after deciding to down size as I'd a rather put money into my savings. No complaints, I've had fun.

It depends on how long you keep it!

At the end of the day you have got to enjoy the hobby, it's not just about money. As with anything in life some people have the luxury of deeper pockets than others.... Houses, cars, Clothes.....

like others have said

you need to factor in those other costs

e.g. my barn will cost me £2.5k a year
Insurance maybe 200
Fuel 500
Events 500
let alone breakages, service parts etc

so mine would need to go up over 3k a year for me to be investment neutral which is unlikely

but

A Bodies are still affordable and with the others being too far out of reach then this will push people to buying the A body stuff and thus those will rise in price.

If you can strike quickly like that 67 Coronet in my barn then you can bag a bargain but you would need to be quick

i remortgaged my house to get my charger :D ( no, really, I did ). I'm glad I did it otherwise I wouldn't have been able to afford one either. I have no plans to sell it, but, should I ever be in a position where I have no choice but to sell it. I know I'll get my money back.

Justin .... you know it's business !
Well, being my company, every trip abroad is business !
Ironically, those Coronet 500's are looking very affordable for a beautiful car, failing that a 66 Charger ....
.... will have to have a think about that after I get back from going away at Xmas

There's an MMA member selling this one for 19k ish?

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C809685

Have you considered thinking outside the box a bit? If you want a B body there are satelites and coronets to look at? OK they don't look the same outwardly but they have a common chassis and share the same mechanics so I can't imagine the driving experience will be too dissimilar?

If it must be a charger and nothing else will do, then first and third gen models must also be worth a look?

There's also the option of taking on something a bit ratty and improving upon it over time.

Another option might be to consider moving on your E body?

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.

Yes there are people that find cars out there for you.
I had mine found for me, shipped over ~2 years ago and it was about £15k if I recall. Annnnnnnnd I've spent about half that again on the car since :D
