B -body axle

Does anyone know if a 8 3/4 b/ body axle will fit a C body ? Searching the web and its about 1 1/2 " shorter than the c/ body axle. I have an axle here spare with suregrip 489 case / 3:55's. Cars not arrived yet so can't measure up/ visualise so to speak .

just fit the centre section,,
