727 problems

The trans on my Bus may have issues, or it may just be so long since I've had gears shifted for me that I've forgotten what it's like!

It's a Loadflite 727 I believe.
In first it sounds like an electric milk cart, it has a proper loud whine!

If I put my foot down it shifts up to 2nd with a bump. If I'm gentle on the throttle, it shifts late. Fluid level seems ok but I'm not 100% sure it's the original dipstick.

I've ordered a filter & gasket so I'll be replacing the fluid. I'll be able to measure what goes in then of course.

Does anyone still sell weld-in sump plugs?

Does it have a kickdown arrangement and is it correctly adjusted?

It does and I've no idea if it's adjusted right.
I'll investigate that thanks Pete!

Maybe it has a shift kit. Mine whines in first and all shifts are hard. TF2 shift kit

Possible Miles, although nothing else has been upgraded. It's still on points, stock leads, 2-barrel carb, etc.
The slow upshift doesn't feel right to me, I'll check the kickdown, etc.
