Hi all the ball joint on my pitman arm is worn (the arm that bolts to the steering box? ) so I need a new one. It's for my RHD aussie Chrysler Cj 1975. Any advice on suppliers & would it be the same as a LHD Usa model does anyone know ? Many thanks shaun

They may be Aus-specific as the Box location point is different to an American Car. Dave999 will be along in a minute....

He will know.
BIG Hydraulic puller time if you have to get a Pitman arm off unless you are VERY lucky...

yeah RHD specific as far as I can tell
same with the idler Arm
2 sizes model/steering box specific
all manual have the small arm
some power boxes have the big arm (it has a bigger hole)

I have a pitman arm puller you can borrow.
you will most likely need one

you're right Dave ! Removed my old arm today & guess what... the new arm has a bigger hole ! The company I got it from listed either p/s or none p/s. I ordered the p/s one as mine has power steering. Feeling disappointed now as can't eactly nip round to Australia to swap it for the other type.

you can have my old one if you want
its a small hole one
nothing intrinsically wrong with it apart from utterly filthy
its probably done about 10K miles over 12 years
I just had a new one to put on with the other new stuff so it came off
it might be lacking the foam pad that keeps the muck from getting in the swivel of the pin
bit of inner tube does the same so no issue there.
i'll be away for 10 days but send us your address and i'll pop it in the post
unless you want to swing by my house. let me know today and i'll wrap it in plastic and hide it under a plant pot somewhere.
