Safe front tyre max pressure

Hi all, just wondering what pressure you can ACTUALLY run street tyres at?

I have 165/80 R15 on the front of the Dart and they say 40 psi MAX. Do we think this is for road grip/handling purposes or "dont go any higher or they will blow up in ya face" reason?

Any thoughts would be great, cheers :) :)

You can safely run at the max pressure on the sidewall, there will be a safety margin built into that figure before a good tyre would burst. Some tyres also have a max pressure on them for seating the beads as well. I have always run skinny front tyres at 35psi without issue on the street or the track.

Hi James, I think it also relates to the load rating of the tyre, ie the maximum pressure at the maximum load for that tyre. :thumbright:
