Firm Feel do on that highly rated.

http://www.firmfeel.com/b_body_mopar_po ... build.html

Core charge is nasty.

General view is that the cheap aftermarket ones, Rockauto etc fail pretty quickly.
Firm Feel don't by accounts I've read.

I doubt that any Supplier will have that on the shelf, but places will order on your behalf. Expect long delays, story of my life...

If you're handy with tools, there's a sticky somewhere that explains how to rebuild them at home? :thumbright:

if its manual its an easy rebuild

if its a power box less so but kits of parts or some time on the net will bag you all the bits to make a decent job of it.

borgeson make a power box. or they modify a modern Delphi (Saginaw) box with a different sector shaft.

best off buying from a mopar specialist to get all the pipes (metric to imperial pipe) fittings and any adaptor for the steering column which idealy would be a slip fit adaptor rather than a UJ

So I went with the firmfeel.com stage 2 rebuild that claims to give the steering feel of "A 2005 dodge"

I just found a used box on ebay usa and had it shipped straight to firm feel for their rebuild.

They turned it around in a week.

It is being fitted on Thursday so will report back then.

i have no idea what a 2005 dodge feels like...possibly like a 10 year old truck!!!! :) it was probably a great tag line when they designed their website in 2005

but they have a good reputation.

keep in mind the key to a nice steering mopar is + castor so it self rights the steering to straight on and neutral or slight negative camber new bushes everywhere top and bottom.

and potentially a ball bearing or urethane bush conversion on the idler arm

so if it isn't up to expectations and those areas i have highlighted are not great it will be hard to ascertain if its the box or the rest of it of it that is a problem.

also keep in mind the 100s of us every year throw away perfectly good top and bottom balljoints that just need a clean out with WD40 and A re grease with a waterproof lithium or barium based grease . some play is inevitable and is not an MOT failure on a full metal socket metal ball stud balljoint unless the person doing the MOT has only known modern sealed for life nylon cup joints (any play in them is a failure)...keeping them greased keeps it to a minimum.
