Prop measurement

Hi all,

I've had a look at the sticky regarding prop shaft measurement and the Denny's link seems very clear.

Only question I have if you look at the picture (sorry about the quality) is that my extension housing appears to have a metal ring inbetween it and the rubber seal.

I can't work out if the metal ring is part of the extension housing or not, so i'm not sure if to measure from there or just before that?

any advice welcome

Thanks, I've read that article and it's really good, just can't work out if that bit that looks like a metal ring is part of the extension shaft or something to do with the rubber seal like some sort of retaining ring?

looks like a carrier for the seal, perhaps it's a later add on due to some sort of change.
couldnt tell you whether that's original or not.

to be honest that few mm won't make much difference, the spines on the yolk have enough length that if you knock that spacer off the measurement you'll still be fine

The metal ring you are referring to is part of the original type seal. You measure from the end of the aluminium extension housing. For information, aftermarket seals sit flush with the end of the housing they don't have that protective boot.
