Am I OCD??

Just had a very interesting conversation whilst tinkering in my garage. Since splitting from my wife last year. I retired and bought myself a flat with a garage and very small balcony..... I am a tidy person (unlike my wife but that's another story) and I get great satisfaction from living in a clean, tidy and ordered environment. Back to my conversation. A neighbour commented on how tidy my garage was and said that he bets that all the books, towels, cushions, pictures etc in my flat are straight and neat. He stated that its a man thing and we are all a bit OCD. It got me thinking and so I had a look around and realised he was correct. Now, I know I'm not clinically OCD as I worked with a guy who was and I wouldn't wish what he went through on a daily basis on anyone, but do I have a problem or am I just a bloke??

Cheers Steve :thumbright:

PS.... yes, all my hangers in my wardrobe are wooden, the same, and all have to face the same way :D

Quite possibly Dave.... although I only know 2 women with OCD tendencies and most of my mates are borderline OCD (or frustrated wannabes who live with messy women) :D

This picture is a bit scary..... :clown:

You need help.

Take up Drag Racing.

Once you have laid down in the Pits under a dripping sump in the wet, you will not give a stuff about how neat your saucepans are....

Sorry about the delay in replying men, I was pairing my socks and arranging the bean cans with the labels facing forward :banghead:

Pete, I remember getting bored over a Christmas holiday a few years ago. I had a new steering box to fit to the Polara. There was a couple of inches of snow on everything (including the car cover). I lay under it for 3 hours freezing cold and aching (Mopar steering boxes get heavy after the 6th attempt to get it in place). When I had finished, I chucked all my tools in the garage and went in for a coffee. I had about 2 sips of it and just had to go back out to organise my socket set etc. Then I enjoyed the coffee #-o

James.... you aren't funny  :D :D (Nice spread in Classic American by the way)

Dave, if I had somewhere to work, I would love to attempt a total resto, including paint etc. Im not even bothered if its a yank or not, a moggy would do me, would just love to do everything :study:

Ali, that's the picture of my bedroom that you took, remember..... :-# ;)

Dunc, I love your place but I wouldn't get a stroke of work done there. I would spend my first two months boxing, labelling and listing everything. The boxes would have to be the same or if not, the same style of box would have to be stored together, not mixed.... part of the charm of your 'working' garage at the back is the random, busy feel to it. I had a seal replaced on my Merc at an autobox specialist down here in Solihull. He is an old boy called Ken Snead and he works from an out building on a farm. His place makes mine look like a tip... clinical and very organised =P~ =P~ Will drop you a PM, I struggle to work Rods n Sods.

Miles, 6 months free B n B from May to October next year would have your garage sorted. Would have to be a yearly thing though.

Interesting though. I think its a family thing as my brother is the same. When I go round to his house he will constantly be picking bits of fluff off his rugs etc and constantly wiping the kitchen surfaces down. Im not that bad but I cant go to bed unless everywhere is tidy and reset to how I like it. I hate getting up to a mess. When I do get up, I have to make the bed up. I cant go out unless its done. Strangely though, a disorganised cutlery drawer doesn't bother me (a messy bathroom cupboard does and God help anyone who leaves the last toilet roll in the plastic bag the come in. I have to take it out and throw the bag away). Im starting to get tetchy now as Ive noticed that the remote controls by the TV are not together and straight.... must dash!! :runaway!:

I bet it comes form years of doing line-ups in the force.

Im guessing you got them to stand in height order.

Impressive garage setup Steve.......Mine is nothing like it. I have a habit of buying something using it then going back out 2 hours later to get another. Never have the chance to start a paint collection.

The tools are put in order when ive lost one. Once retrieved they return to the normal chucked in a box layout.
That way i can have the box under the car with me. It used to Bananarama! me off squeezing under the car to find the socket id picked up was one size too big or small.
Repeat procedure 3 times and its no wonder my 'Just 2 hours on the car love' ended up being a day every time.
