I was looking through some old files and came across these.

A good reminder that things can and do go wrong on the 'Strip; and the value of good Safety equipment.

 GULP! I know you have told me about this in detail and I have seen the one photo on the back of connected magazine. But this really shows what can happen.

Safety THEN speed gives us a better chance of racing another day.

Thanks for posting, Pete and glad you are here to tell the tale :thumbright:

I've seen these pics a few times, and still sends a shudder through me. It just shows the importance of good, up to date safety equipement, even if does cost a few extra quid so what, and to my mind, re-enforces the need for MSA compliance. Ironic that the win light is on, you certainly won that battle Pete, well done!

Out of interest, what happened to the Dodge after the event (rebuild or way the chassis past economical repair)?

Dave, the car was not economically viable to restore, so it was broken for parts.

The engine was still running - even upside down - and I had to switch it off once the world stopped spinning!

Shame that mate........At least the owner was economically viable when he got out!! :D

Be interested to hear the stats/build on the car (and its times) pre remoddeling?

Car weighed 2838lbs with Driver / Pilot.

400-based 512 Stroker with Indy heads & twin 750 DP Holleys on a TR.

Dana 60 with Tru-Trac and 4.56:1 gears, 33" x 10.5" Slicks.

Ran a best of 9.7 on the motor at 138 mph with more to come, but you can see the result of "Testing".

The best bit of the car was the Hauser Racing 12 point cage....
