I have a really mint 70 Hemi challenger superstock car its in factory paint n vinyl roof its how it used to race back in the day with the big guns, the Rod shop did a lot of the preperation on the car, its a legal D stock auto car, well yank rules prob not ours,
My prob is whilst its real clean it does not really look like a bad ass race car, i like the period paint jobs and one of my very favourites has graced our very own drag strips and kicked arse but ultimately got banned its a facelifted 70-71 car made to look like a 72 on car the LONDON HEAVY, This car has never been found so my thoughts are to paint my car like it, but do i fit the front n rear lights etc, i think the 72 on cars are a ugly miserable bugger at the front but look hard from the back with big slicks under em, i also really like the blistered rear arches on the Heavy car looks hard as hell the Dick Landy car also morphed like this one = early in to later cars all to do with promoting the new model yr cars,,

So wot u think guys,, :) :) :)

Fantastic car, Duncan.

"London Heavy" has been found and it is back in the USA (I think New York, but I could be wrong).

"London Heavy" was the ex-"Billy the Kid" car .

Blue knows the detail behind this.

...and I think it got banned because it had a Lenco in it and killed the competition...

And if you paint a car like Landy's, DLI will sue your arse off....

Leave the car as it is, it is a piece of history.

Drab, but history nonetheless....

I would not do the Landy car look except maybe for the flared rear arches like it had and the Heavy car, i doubt thats the Heavy car in that picture if it was getting restored who ever would surley reinstate the flared rear arches and the side stripes were never pink more like a bronze at least when it raced in England and i think thats its best look,

mmmmm

Indeed,
.

The "Yob" car has been built to comply with the "Uk Nostalgia Superstock" Regs.

It would be great to have a fleet of NHRA-compliant Cars over here, at the moment it is just an aspiration as there are only about 4 cars in the country that would be compliant.

The London Heavy car is in the States somewhere on the east coast, been in bits for years not sure if it is being worked on or not. Dunc, with yours I would paint it as per it's pre facelift guise, always was a tough looking car.

It looks like that "C" panel has rippled, no doubt due to years of wheel-standing launches....

And the fact that there will be no inner structure and it's more than likely been acid dipped, these cars had a very hard life.

They got the rear end so right with the original cars. It looks great with those big slicks. I reccon lot of those other race cars look so hard because the front ends are set so low? Why not try adjusting the torsion bars down a bit and see if that makes a difference to how you feel about it?
