Hi Guys

A couple of rookie questions from a frustrated Jock that isn't finding anything to see in the flesh at any of our shows - yet..............

I've a copy of the "Complete book of classic Dodge and Plymouth muscle" A most enjoyable read, however I want to clarify some of the data, regarding sizes.
thinking about the 71-74 cars here. Would I be correct in saying

A-Body - Duster - Smallest body size at approx. 185"
E-Body - Challenger - Mid sized at approx. 195"
B-Body - Charger - Largest at approx. 205"

70's style roadrunner is showing as B-Body at 205"+ in the book specs but looks smaller than that in any photo's, I imagine the book is correct. So as daft as it sounds can you confirm he 71-74 Roadrunner is a BIG car

Trying to figure out what's the best size for budget or whether a bigger budget buys a smaller car (not that any of them are small...........)

I also see in the book that the cars get increasingly bigger from 71-74, I assume this is only the bumpers getting bigger for the reg's as I doubt the bodies dimensions increased so regularly.

It would be nice to see things for real so may plan a couple of trips south next year, to get up close and personal. Got plenty time to make the right moves.

The pre '67 A bodies are the smallest and lightest and probably the best bang for your buck. All Roadrunners are big cars the later ones look especially lardy though they might not be physically bigger. Missing from your list are the C bodies which are the largest, like a B body on steroids, the wagons are just colossal. E bodies are odd ones, quite big externally but like a reverse tardis inside if you are tall and the spare wheel occupies about 90% of the boot.

A bodys, all years are good on uk roads, due to size, and as Blue says the early ones are smaller,
b bodys are still good on our roads, they are great for taking up all the road on country lanes
E's are a compromise as they are big but dont really look big, bit like coupe's i suppose.
Id lova a c body just for sheer road pretense, but my coronet is big enough

If you want to see cars up close to gauge sizes etc. If you can make it, try going to Scottish mods on July 15th at Ilkeston. There’s a selection of American stuff inside the arena.

That kinda answers the questions as I had them in my head . I know they are pretty banal questions so thanks for responding.

Its Duster's that I keep looking at, I love the shape and a decent one is in my 'intended' budget (a couple of nice ones for sale at the moment, but I'm not ready - still got boxes to shift and some pennies to save ) So hoping to get to see some first. You would think Aberdeen being full of Americans for years would have a healthy selection of yank metal to look at, but not much appears if it is about. I've lived here for the last 30 years and other than Mustangs, the odd Trans am, Corvette and Camaro, a gorgeous continental and a few few hot rods there is very little that appears at the local shows. That's one of the reasons I fancy something different, plenty supercars to see but not many cool cars

Rebel - I have tickets for the American show at Knockhill on the 24th, not seen the one you mention so I will go and investigate further, at least I'm off shift on the 15th so its a possibility. I'm hoping i'll get to see some of my target cars there, but anything will do especially if this weather holds out.

Dusters are great cars, one of the most popular A bodies and one of the best selling cars Chrysler ever produced, I'd happily have another one.

Don't rule out the Aussie Chargers, ..A body with a difference,.... and right hand drive,...try going into a car park with a left hooker,...pain in the a... getting the ticket without a passenger!!!!!!!

Yes indeed all the A body benefits slightly wider than most a foot shorter in length with no impact on boot space.

Aussie Charger is a great car for over here, there is one just up for sale down my way now, 318 auto.
Smaller externally than a Challenger but much more room inside, especially the boot.
