As said elsewhere, what a fantastic place and event! Dunno how it had escaped my notice before Matt mentioned it earlier this year #-o
It looked to me as we arrived around 9am that the whole of the UK's classics were already in attendance, and they continued arriving for the next hour or so, filling up every available parking space around in and around the RAF base. It took us till around 1pm (it was due to finish at 2pm) to get out towards the airfield where there were hundreds more cars parked, but we were all classiced-out by then so after a quick mooch around the edge of the airfield, made our way back towards the main entrance where we were parked, and bumped into Morgan en route :thumbright:

As you'll see (if you haven't been there), there's dozens of businesses in the various buildings around the airfield that use the event as an open day, and they alone would be worth visiting, without the (probably) thousands of visiting cars too. The stainless exhaust manufacturer (pictured below somewhere) looked pretty useful. He does specialise in Porsche systems but i'm sure he could do a custom system for any car. Prob worth considering if you're fairly local.

Highlight for me tho was seeing the 'Ring Brothers' 69 Charger arrive. I've been hoping to see this car in the flesh since reading about it late last year in Mopar Muscle. Here's some background on it if you aren't already aware...

So apologies for taking too many pics, especially of that Charger. Sorry Morgan, if we'd seen your car I'd have taken 20 pics of that instead ;)

Build a megabuck Charger then paint it that awful green and use wheels that look like they belong on some sort of commercial vehicle? weird, add the colour clash of the red stripe tyres for that final WTF...
looks like a great day out, will try to make that next year.

The tyres are a clever visual tie in to the rear lights obvs...... ;)

What a great event, something there for pretty much everybody :thumbright:

The charger was odd - You look at it and there is something not-quite-right but I couldnt tell what. I thought it was the HUGE wheels made it look strange (particularly as they were a 'traditional' type of look but just massive. Or maybe the extra flush fittings of the bumpers or the splitter. Apparently (and I need Rob or Stu here)there is something else that I missed. Its shorter - the proportions have been chopped ?

They removed 2" from the rear quarters and trunk etc - around the area where the stripe is, to shorten the car. The front wheels were moved forward 3" (from memory - info in the link in my original post above), effectively making it like an early AFX!
I agree the wheels look HUGE but i was surprised to read they are 'only' 19" - the same as on my Alfa 159 :-k
Maybe the change at the front end improves handling but aesthetically, doesnt do anything for me. And the shorter rear panels are hardly noticeable. I like the rest tho. The interior is perfect IMHO :D
As for the colour... that must have been the hardest decision, knowing how differing peoples opinions are. Unless you don't give a stuff what anyone else thinks! I agree a subtle colour was the right choice. I dont have a problem with the green but dont know if that's what I would have chosen :-k
As for the tyres... redlines go with anything! Personally, i think without, and with dark green bodywork and wheels and the black of the tyres, the 'dog dish' (machined from billet) caps would look lost amongst the dark wheel arches, and the redlines gives a bit of colour to that area. just my :mytwocents:

I think itโ€™s the front wheels that make the Charger look a little odd,I guess they need the offset to accommodate different track width? Personally I think the colour is good, brave maybe but good.

Red Zodiac please ๐Ÿ˜Ž
