Afternoon!

Getting everything together to assemble the 360 this Christmas, and a couple of questions. Be gentle - first Mopar engine!

It's an early 70's LA, with stamped rockers, and I've noticed they have different numbers stamped on them - F10T, F11LY, G2RT, H7RT etc etc. I didn't strip the engine, and various searches haven't helped, so need to make sure they got back properly. What do the numbers mean?

OK, with deduction I've gathered the LT and RT are left and right (although its fairly obvious when you look at the rocker arm itself.)

The last mystery is just the F11, F10, G12, G6, H7 etc code.....

I'd suggest then if there is no appreciable difference between each rocker from a specific side

those are just series numbers linked to production tooling or time

like connecting rods

the rods and caps are numbered to get the right cap on the right rod the right way round

but in a rebuild situation i'd stick the rod/bearing that best fits, where it fits best. if 12345678 shows 1 rod with less clearance and one with more i'd swap them and see what's best.

i.e the rods may be numbered 12345678 but might end up 13427856 because thats where they end up.

so provided the shaft is ok and the rockers all fit with the tip in the right place on the valve

i think you are alright. their original positions have been lost. i don't think it matters if it all goes together correctly.

mine (hemi 6) were originally ball stud mounted..i used to just make sure the ball on the stud made the biggest contact patch with the cup in the rocker. normally all the same so they went where they fitted best

Don't know what the numbers refer to but it's not important, they are either LH or RH and that's it. What you will notice is just how sloppy the fit is on the shaft, the holes aren't even round. New ones fit no better so you only need to change them if they have worn really thin on the thrust surface or there is other damage.
