Can someone just tell me what I should use for the headers other than the outer bolts? are they studs for the centre four holes? they seem to be a larger diameter.
Thankyou!!!

all the tapped holes in the heads should be the same size - 3/8 UNC . The manifolds usually attach to studs installed in all holes . The studs are 3/8 UNC at the head end , & 3/8 UNF at the manifold end . They also need to be installed using sealer on the threads, as the tapped holes lead through to the water jacket .
If installing headers you could use 3/8 UNC bolts ionstead of studs , but you only need to seal a stud once & leave it in there . Down to personal preference for your particular installation , but I'd go for studs every time.

I will have a good look to see what bolts and studs there are in the boxes I got with the engine, as there is none fitted and I dont think it was last run with those in.
Cheers

Hi Kev, I have found plenty of similar bolts, I am just sure the holes are different sizes.
I will have a look Saturday evening to see if they fit etc, then will let you know.
Don't think it will be ready for next weekend though
Unless it comes out in primer and flapping rear 1/4 panels!

Mine is fitted with two types of studs, same thread into the head but 2 different ones on the outside ...
BTW does anyone have a tip on getting well stuck studs out? My one in front of #1 is butchered and is well stuck in (looks like it might even be original). Would be nice if there was a way to get it out without having to move the engine!
