Missing headliner and hardware - 73 Charger

My Charger came to me without any remnants of the headlining, including the bows (or any other fittings). I know that either four or six bow liners are fitted, but I have no idea which mine originally had! :-k More confusing is that there appear to be five sets of holes along the upper edge inside the roof, presumably for the bows to fit into (also one extra set of holes beneath these). Can anyone shed any light on this for me please? I’ve taken a photo showing the holes (attached).

My interior is getting covered in a thin layer of rust from the underside if the roof and I really want to at least get the insulation fitted. I have this already, but what is the best sort of glue to use to stick it to the roof? I’m obviously going to rub down all the surface rust first. Any other tips gratefully received! :)

Mine is an SE and iirc has 4bows thats all I can give you as I'm yet to reach the stage of refitting a headliner.

Perhaps all 73s have a four bow liner? It would be nice if that was the case, but Sod's Law probably says otherwise!

some of the holes might have been for plastic stoppers that acted as a place for self tapping screws to screw into that originally held on a big plastic finishing strip that clamped headliner on inner side and rubber seals for door and rear side window on the other

i say this based purely on my own car which is australian rather than any knowledge of yours

bows would go into the higher set of holes i'd guess, hanging headlining taught across the majority of the roof

the bow tunnels on the headliner back, end before the sides of the headliner, and the sides left flapping tuck in/are pinned under trim piece or window rubbers.

i think

don't take as gospel...just a guess based on fiddling with mine

you are in luck

73 parts book here

http://www.mymopar.com/index.php?pid=107

dodge 73 body manual here

http://www.mymopar.com/index.php?pid=109

use first to ID parts list
use second to see how they go together

you will have to manually search both as they are scans not OCR-ed text

Brilliant Dave! :) Thanks ever so much for this, I have the Body & Chassis manuals, but had not seen the parts manual before, that's a real help :D
