At least in this part of the world last Sunday provided brief respite from our current monsoon conditions

It’s a pre-book show, which I hadn’t, however they do operate a turn up on the day facility on the proviso that entry is subject to available space, and not until after 10am to allow all the pre-bookers to get in and parked up, fair enough

In it’s 6th year the show is based in the seaside town of Cleveleys, 5 miles north of Blackpool, 3 miles south of Fleetwood, and about an hour from Manchester

Victoria Rd W and Sea Front Promenade are filled with cars providing a different backdrop to the normal cars in a field type shows

It turned out to be a cracking day with lots of blue sky, fresh air and good fun, the clear conditions aside from showing the cars off at their best also provided distant views of the Lakes to the north and North Wales to the south

As a general interest show there was a good number of classics, yanks, rods and trucks as well as modern stuff. I’ve never seen so many Focus’s all in one place aside from at a Ford dealer, there’s not too many of those feature in my photo album. But non the less we’re all like minded folks at the end of the day, whatever your taste

The roll of metal is called Mary’s Shell

It’s a huge piece of public art, part of the Mythic Coast art trail

It’s fastened to a base which is fixed to concrete foundations set in the beach

Mary’s Shell on Cleveleys beach is 8m long and 4m tall and weighs in at 16.5 tonnes

Once the tide goes out, you can climb inside it and listen for the sounds of the sea and read the words from the story of the Sea Swallow, etched inside
