I noticed yesterday that AMD are discontinuing quite a lot of Mopar panels so have a look before its too late, only good thing is they are 50% off.

Thats a bit of a worry

Looking at the stock, its the 'rarer' ones that seem to be discontinuing.
Your B and E bodies there isnt much. I suppose there is only a limited market and people are always going to be restoring Challengers and Chargers.

Full rear Quarters for '67-'69 Barracuda's is hardly niche though....

I don't get it, surely once you've made the investment in the tooling, any sales are better than none

Actually i missed that. Yes, there are some in there that must be money makers. Seems odd.


Ref tooling - another good point. The expensive bit is done - holding stock aint hard - just put the tool in storage and whack a few out when they are gone.

I think Blue might be right. These cars dont tend to get restored twice. Maybe those that want to or doners that are left is dwindling too far

Yep, there's a finite amount of cars that are worth restoring and a finite amount of people willing to spend the money it takes to do it, at some point demand is going to drop it can't last forever.

This is very true. I am sure that the companies who have the tooling will keep it safe so that another batch could be done if demand dictated it to be viable.

Yes it would be madness to dispose of the tooling, that's where most of the investment is. Maybe they will sell the tooling off to someone? I think it's about reducing their inventory and proliferation of small volume parts. I agree that some don't appear to fit that description, but most do. They are also getting rid of some 'patch' panels but keeping full panels. I noticed that they are even discontinuing challenger R/T hoods - but when you look closer it's the ones that come with the hood pin holes, they are keeping the ones without. So it's the same part but reduced their inventory (BTW -when I looked the other day they were selling off the hoods with pin holes for $300!!). I heard they don't make much $$ on the Mopar parts due to the volumes, and that they more or less subsidise the Mopar stuff with the high vol Ford and Chevy stuff. Who knows.

It's a relief they'e not pulling out all-together but it's a shame they've discontinued the early B-body panels as the're the only one's we're likely to need any time soon

Yes, and you'd expect the market for the earlier cars would be growing as the prices of the most popular 68 - 70 models become unattainable for a lot of folk....
