Dipstick length for 440

Hi
Without being personal, can anyone tell me the length of their dipstick please?
I've bought a new one for my 440 but compared to my present one, the tube is the same length but the actual stick is about 1.5 inches longer. Obviously if I use the new one then the engine will be running with less oil, or has it had too much oil before? I've always filled to the dipstick level. I believe the sump is standard.

There's only one way to know for sure, change the oil and refill with the correct amount of oil and let it sit for an hour or so to settle. See where the level is on the dipstick and re mark or shorten the dipstick to suit.

Totally agree.

Thanks guys.
Now for the inevitable question - what is the correct amount?
There seems to be a difference of opinion on the net - 6quarts (including filter) seems to be for standard sump. Presumably that's US quarts which is different to GB of course!
Does this sound correct to you all?
Cheers

There are basically 2 stock style oil pans, HP/ Hemi which is 6 quarts +1 for the filter, and standard big block which is 4 +1. The HP pan is longer in the deep section which is easy to spot once you've seen an image of both styles. I bought a measuring jug with US quarts on it specifically for this job.
