Le Mans Classic 2022... a few pics

Seems like old news now, having been back a couple of weeks, but a few of us went over to Le Mans for the 'biennial' (not biannual - I checked ;) ) Le Mans Classic, arranged mostly by our very own Matt H :salute:
This was supposed to have happened in 2020 but got rearranged for 2021 - cancelled again then finally went ahead this year.
Thanks to Matt and his long-standing association with the Triumph Sports Six Club (TSSC), we booked our tickets through them and had a great spot in their campsite, over looking the track, just down from the Dunlop bridge.
Apart from the company, the cars and the racing, the facilities provided really contributed to making it a great (long) weekend as there were 3 separate shower/toilet blocks within our exclusive (TSSC) camp site plus catering and bar facilities provided by the club.

Once there we met up with a couple of others - Paul and Shaun who Matt introduced us to, from a local Hot Rod club, the A602's. They got the Eurotunnel in Paul's VW camper but we got the ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe. Travel time for each method was approx the same but we opted for the ferry as it's a bit cheaper with less miles to drive thru France. We all arrived around 12 noon on the Thursday (June 30th), which was when the club campsites opened up.

I've got just under a million photos to post so bear with me...

First off - journey down to Newhaven.
Me, Stu, mate Andy went in Paul's crew-cab Ram. Matt and his daughter Ellie in his Challenger and his son Jack and Mandie (Mrs H) endure the whole journey in Jack's Spitfire!
As you'd expect, there were quite a few classics queuing for the ferry 8-)

Once we'd set up camp and raided the local supermarché for essential supplies (beer, sausages, baguettes, water) we had a mooch round the camp site to see what the other supposed-Triumph club members had made the journey in...

Here's our 3 'classics', arranged Russian Doll style, and our 3 chauffeurs for the trip - that's Paul catching a few zzzz's

You have really got the vib of the event and the eclectic mixture of cars , on our tunnel train we had a one of a kind Bentley , I think 1934 with a fast back coach built body in green , our Chevy , a black late model Ferrari , and a blown arched BMW from the eighties , and we all had a great chat !
Look forward to more pictures

Friday morning we were rudely awoken by the sound of cars going round the track, just a couple hundred yards... sorry, metres away. Not your actual race cars but club cars including our very own Guy Whitwam in his 58 Impala :)

After brekkie we took a wander down to where Guy was parked and wandered round the infield for about 6 hours

I bet there aren't enough hours in the day to look at all these cars there, and there are some beauties there for sure.
Thank you for sharing your photos here I love them and it is making me think about going :thumbright:

Then finally at around 5pm we stopped to watch some racing  Not the best place to take photos, behind a fence, but I thought I'd have a go anyway :-k
