Hesitation/bogging

Ive a 400ci in the truck and it has a really bad case of bogging when pulling away. The engine has to be warm to minimize the bogging but even then I have to feather the throttle to get past it. When its cold/Bananarama! just conks out. Other than the bogging the engine is really strong and really hauls the Truck.

Its running a new Holley 750 Vacuum Secondary's. Installed before I bought the Truck and cant have more than 1000 miles on it.,

Anyone have any suggestions? Ive read it might need a heavier Spring or going up in Jet sizes.

Check the timing first, you want 34 degrees with the vacuum disconnected and plugged at about 4000RPM. See how many degrees that gives you at idle, it probably won’t be enough.

... and when you have set the ignition timing and proved all the Leads and Plugs are good, and Cap / Rotor arm are sound and you still have a problem, it will be on to carburation and probably insufficient Pump Shot and possibly Power Valve if fitted.

What carb?
If it is a carter / Edelbrock, you could be in for a bit of a battle...
