Bicester Scramble Jan 8th 2023

We took a chance with the weather forecast on Sunday (30% chance of rain :-k ) and drove out west to Bicester Heritage (53 miles) for their first 'Sunday Scramble' of the year.
Generally it's for all pre-1990 vehicles but they like to have a theme going on and this time it was 'Winter Wagons', so priority parking was given to any wagons/estates that registered beforehand.
We were told to park with the other American cars... all 3 of them when we arrived... but that did grow to a total of 7 after a couple of hours

Apart from that, a bit of everything...

A few more...

Anyone who watches 'Harry's Garage' on youtube might recognise his recently restored Lancia Zagato, that we saw leaving... I just managed to get a couple of pics as he drove past. Nice to see but it didn't sound like an £87k resto...

Thanks for sharing Rob. I like the Lotus Elite S2 Riviera, a rare car.
Shame your car didn't get entry inside and replace that rubbish Volvo 200 estate.
We went to it last year, 2CV's and lowered VW Jetta's inside. Not sure I'll be going again in a hurry.

My pleasure Mark 😁
We've been a few times now and had our car in amongst the buildings a few times. Last June I applied to have it in there and were selected (honoured?) and the year before they approached us in the queue to offer us a place inside rather than out on the airfield with the riff raff 😁
That Lotus had the brightest yellow interior 🤮 .... I'd much rather have the yellow Elan 😎

good spot, i presume you mean it sounded rough?? they only did a base tune on the rebuilt motor and told him to take it back after 500 miles for a full tune

Hi Si,
Yes it just sounded like it needed to 'clear its throat', maybe as he hasn't done his 500 miles yet :)

We were going to use the 63 but it was running rough once started, even tho it was ok the day before. Same intermittent problem we had at the Euronats last year, we think.

So we uncovered the Satellite and used that instead. 30 min delay but at least we had an alternative :thumbright:

After grumbling about Bicester Scramble, the organisers have given my car a display pass for April, so I feel rather honored and am not grumbling anymore.
