I am sure he was THE last member of the original band - which seemed to regenerate after each and every tragedy....

Saw them a few times, I found their performances varied wildly.....

I saw them supporting Deep Purple many years ago and they were brilliant entertainment.

Saw them at NIA and again at Hammersmith and it was very poor..... that was enough for me...

Yeah very sad :( and just before a US tour and some shows with ZZ Top in the summer :shock:

Me and Stu are lucky / old enough to have seen them a few months before the plane crash, in Jan 77. Only our 3rd ever gig, age 15.

I think it was just Ronnie Van Zandt that did the fighting, to be fair. Billy Powell has been quoted as saying, after the plane crash "Thank God it’s over – I don’t have to get beaten up anymore" :shock:

I think Billy's nose nearly got ripped off in the crash... obviously it had been softened up previously....
