NEC Classic Motor Show 2024 (Friday)

We chose the Friday again, as we usually do, cos it's usually a bit quieter, but it did seem busier than usual - maybe cos they've now started discounting Friday advance tickets as well as the Sat & Sun :-k
And we usually buy the car park ticket in advance too but thought we'd leave it up to chance, as the barriers are usually left up by the time we leave and thankfully it paid off this time - so that was £18.95 saved! :P :D

Once inside, after negotiating the HS2 roadworks  we made a beeline for the MMA stand but first we stopped off at the Classic American stand as Jason's hemi Coronet caught our eye, having been buffed and polished to within an inch of its life... or a thou of its paint thickness

Over at MMA central, Scotty Dave was doing a fine job of manning the stand and no doubt having to explain to the general public why Tommy's 'bird had a silly wing and pointy nose :banghead:  Mark's Barracuda was a great choice too and thanks to Dave, we didn't have a gap on the stand after Seyhan had to pull his 'project' Charger due to work commitments.

Didnt manage to get around all the Halls this year, so we missed the Meguiars display and the other glamorous clubs in Hall 1 and the Fords in Hall 8, but we did order a set of wheel dollies for the garage, so it wasn't a wasted trip :working:

It was good to see the MOCGB has a few of the new Mach E 'city cars' on display, as well as the usual Mustangs... ;)

Thanks Rob, almost like being there, me and a friend didn't even get out of Surrey in his car on Friday on the way there, hit a pot hole and damaged a wheel so it was a no go for us, couldn't even give the tickets away as they were for that day. How much has Tommy put the car up for.

Nice pics as has been said. Worth taking the tripod this year :D
There was no sign on Tommy's car on Friday so we didn't see.

So what won the Classic American COTY? the Caddy or the Corvette? :argue:

That’s what I would have picked.
After Jason’s Coronet (obvs).

Thanks. I flicked thru the 7+ hours of coverage on youtube and I think the prices shown in those links are including the commission etc, so a bit more than the winning bids.
Even so, some amazing numbers there. From memory, the Maserati soft top in my pics sold for £275k. The white Escort Cossie sold for £180k and surprisingly low bids of £19k won a concours quality 69 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, 2k less than the not-so-concours one we were drooling over on the trade stands. And a series 2 (ie naff) E type roadster for just £32k. And the mulsanne Turbo went for just £11k

The Jensens don't seem to fetch what they were doing. The low miler looked like it needed seats re done and carpets then a good steam clean under the hood. But then its underneath where the money can go silly
