1 for all you painters, my mate has painted his truck with hammerite smooth and now wants to paint it properly, can he paint over the top with celeuolose or 2 pack?, will he have to strip it back to metal? or is there some sort of sealer he can buy to go over the hammerite? Thanks.

depends how good a job he wants to do of it.
I personally wouldn't spray over smothrite as it goes on too thick. And that even when its sprayed on. How did he apply it? As its an enamel type product its not nice to flat back and deal with either. Best to strip the lot with a proprietary paint stripper. I'd not bother trying to mechanically strip it as you'll be there for ever. Nitromores and scarred hands cometh...
If he's only looking to brighten it up, and its not on toooooooooo thick, just spray over a coat of Barcoat (about a tenner a litre from your local paint factors) and then you can use celly or 2K over the top of that.
Hammerite Smooth usually isn't very, so you'll probably have plenty of prep to make it look well enough to spray.
Like I say, depends on how good you want it to look really and how much effort and expense its worth.

That about sums it it up.
Of all the things to paint it with, he chose Hammerite!

Certainly is a bit too late Dave! Hammerite goes sort of gooey when you strip it off and the best way I have found is with a slow speed air polisher with a ten inch 40 grit disc!
You've still got to get into all the corners though and that's where stripper is about the only way to do it.
